Magdalen College 50th Anniversary Ball

The 50th anniversary of the Commemoration Ball prompted a larger than usual event for the students and alumni.

The grounds of the College were broken up into different themed areas all under the umbrella theme of 'Victoriana'. A fairy light canopy lit up the Cloisters where ballroom dancing to a live band beneath the stars continued throughout the night. Historic buildings and a makeshift market fair were floodlit with coloured light, thousands of meters of festoons were hung around the circus tent, powerful sound systems amplified fantastic acts in all tents and the guests partied until 8am the following day!

SXS took the role of primary production company. This meant we provided all things technical including

• Event Lighting for all buildings and spaces
• Stage and performance lighting for all performance area
• Site Power Distribution
• Audio Systems for no less than five performance areas
• Rigging throughout the site; both in marquees, outdoor and for free-standing structures
• Select decor services
• Crewing and transport for all assets

The event was a huge success and widely regarded as the best ball of the season for all the Oxford colleges.
