Do you own all the equipment you use?

Yes, we have one of the UK's most diverse stocks of kit. This includes staging, sound, furniture, lighting, video, rigging, decor, drapes and catering equipment. This is all wholly owned and stored in our large 5500 square foot warehouse, which we also own. We rarely hire in kit from other companies.

How long have you been established?

SXS was established in 1998 by founder Johnny Palmer, and has since developed and grown to what it is now. Made up of a group of three companies, and still headed by it's founder, who plays a key role in quality control and direction of the company.

What types of events do you do?

All types. We do everything from product launches to weddings, to fashion shows, to awards shows, to festivals to ethnic celebrations, to circus performances. Our belief is that the skills and resources used on all events are transferable and that the wider range of events we do, the better experience we have.

International Event Production Support

We support clients all around the globe with their events.

Inbound Clients

When a global brand or institution has an event in the UK or Europe they need local specialist event support.  We support these clients with a full range of infrastructure, production and local expertise.  This can range from acting as local AV supplier, right up to providing introductions or agency services for other contractors, venues or authorities.  As a UK-headquartered business we understand all relevant safety laws and legal matters pertaining to event management.  This expertise and experience is invaluable to our international clients.

Our inbound clients are based in countries including United States of American, France, Ukraine, China, Saudi Arabia, and Nigeria.

Why use a UK company?

We believe that the UK is a world leader in event production and management.  We are a leader for many reasons that help to drive value for clients:

    • We have a strong focuss on safety whilst remaining open-minded and experimental in our work - getting the balance right has become an artform for us
    • Our safety laws are some of the best in the world so when working abroad we exceed the requirements of local laws and regulations
    • We have a controlled cost base and run our businesses in a supportive and efficient environment
    • The strength of the pound often makes UK companies good value
    • Some of the world's best production equipment is made in the UK which has an impact on our work
    • The UK has a world-class engineering community which filters through to events
    • We have a passionate workforce who both love their work and take their professionalism very serious
    • On the whole the UK events industry is not unionised unlike other major countries
    • Our UK workforce is not constrained by laws which prevent us from working in the manner which is required for events; namely the Working Time Directive, which all staff of SXS have opted out of
    • The UKs heritage around music, events and technology is exceptional which underpins our culture and attitude towards events.

International Activity

In many cases using a UK company for international projects is ideal.

Working inside the European Union is straightforward for us.  While these are sometimes increased transport costs these are often relatively insignificant in comparrison to value added by having a company like SXS on board.

We are experienced at managing productions outside the UK and we have produced Carnet ATAs for a range of projects.

Most of our team are seasoned and passionate travellers so enjoy working abroad and are at ease working within different cultures.

Consultancy

As well as providing production services we also offer consultancy services to international clients.  It is often helpful to gain both the experience and credibility that UK companies offer.

How big are you?

Big enough to deliver and small enough to care and be efficient. We have a full-time staff of ten, five part-timers and various casual and freelance workers. We produce around 300 events a year.

Are you happy to agree to Non-Disclosure?

Yes.  Many clients request that we agree to Non-Disclosure Agreements, especially on events that involve brand PR or television.  We are also happy to agree to NDAs for private events where required. Our team is discreet, polite and respectful of the privacy of both individuals and organisations.

Do you do discounts for charity events?

Yes. In our budget we have allocated a limited amount of funds to enable us to offer discounts for some registered charity events.

SXS Events is committed to helping worthy causes with their events.

We are grateful for the assistance guidance and success we have had over the year.  We are keen to help others where we can.

We offer three levels of assistance to charities:

  • Full Sponsorship - where we provide our services completely for free
  • Partial Sponsoship - where we provide one aspect of the event for free and are paid for the others
  • Charity Discounts - discounts that apply to all our services for all charity events.

If you wish to be considered for one of the following, we will require you to fill in our "Charity Event Sponsorship Application Form"  which can be found here.

Please note that we require all parts of this form to be filled in.

Do you take on work experience or placement students?

Yes. We strive to train and develop the next generation of Event Technicians and Designers. We operate a work-experience program throughout the year. We typically take on two placement students for each academic year. We have employed some work experience and placement participants on a full-time basis after graduation. If this is of interest to you, please email recruitment@sxsevents.co.uk

What are your payment terms?

We require a deposit upon booking and the balance in full prior to the event. Some established clients hold accounts with us.
