Orchestral Sound Reinforcement

SXS were approached to provide sound reinforcement for the launch of the recently refurbished Cutty Sark.

The performance included a performance from a 90-strong orchestra with Trinity Laban and a 400-strong choir.

Orchestral sound is unique in the way it is approached.  Unlike many other performances, orchestras require "reinforcement" in that the sound system's purpose is to enhance existing sound rather than be the sole audio source.  In fact, it should not be obvious to the audience that there is a sound system. The event attended by the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh.

Sound control was done with an Allen & Heath iLive digital desk and XTA processing. The sound system used was Martin W8LM for the main arena with the addition of EAW KF850 as a zone fill behind the ship.
