Scents & Smells

Scents and Smells are one of the main ways that an experience, theme or immersion is created for guests.

For years the focus of event theming has been on set, lighting and food. We believe that scent is an often-forgotton element of creating immersive experiences for guests. With this in mind we now stock powerful scent machines.

The Machines

Our scent machines are DMX-controlled and can be loaded with multiple scents. This means that the scent within an event space can change depending upon the experience to be created. Scents can also be programmed by our media servers to work in conjunction with lighting, audio, video, special effects and other automated functions. We can also change the scent as the experience of an event progresses. The machines have variable speed blower fans and variable rate scent control.

Our scent machines work in the same way as a nebuliser by misting scent concentrate. This is very different from how scents are delivered by heat-based mediums, such as candles, incense and smoke machine. The nebuliser method is often better as it does not burn the scent concentrate and therefore allows a more natural scent.

Applications

The applications for event scents are broad, see below some examples:

• Themed scent to reflect the overall look and feel of a space, such as a beach, forest etc
• Use a scent to immerse an audience into the scene of a theatrical experience
• Creating a "4D cinema" experience whereby the audience can smell what they are seeing on a video screen as well as hearing
• Create a signature scent for a presentation - this way the audience member may also associate this scent with the message delivered at the event.
