People are the most important part of our business. We have a hard-working, loyal & enthusiastic team of competent staff.
Each and every staff member has their own specialist areas; however our staff are multi-skilled and work across the board.
Johnny started his event career by working through university as a professional DJ. The draw of creative design, management and technical challenges drew him into event technical production and design. His experience ranges from producing shows at London Fashon Week, to FTSE 100 PR Campaigns to designing and engineering some of SXS' bespoke equipment. Johnny has personally produced in excess of 1000 events and has been the designer and production manager of some of SXS' finest work.

Involvement in your project:Johnny is called in when any project requires a very unique skill set of 'out-of-the-box' thinking. Johnny also offers guidance and assistance to the rest of the team with their projects. On occasion, Johnny has worked as a consultant on projects for architects, event committees and television producers.
Personal Interests:Management theory, stills and video photography, structural design, architecture, economics, cinema, dog training, mixology, and zombie movies.
Anika’s love for performance and experiential events stems from childhood where she was a competitive Synchronised Swimmer. She also developed a real passion for film at school, which led to studying media at university. Anikaworked in the film and television industry before joining SXS as a creative design consultant, and now keeps the entire company running day-to-day, from finance, to logistics, to HR and policy. She also likes to keep her creative mind active by running weddings and some of our smaller events.
Skills:Creative design, film and tv, operations, logistics, and HR.
Involvement in your project:It is likely that you will have some dealings with Anika during the course of your event, whether it’s arranging logistics or discussing payment. She may also be handling your wedding, fashion show or gala dinner.
Personal Interests:In her spare time Anika is a keen photographer and videographer, and also likes to experiment with make up – sometimes theatrical or special effects. She is a self-confessed horror fanatic and you can always count on her putting on a Halloween event during the month of October.
Jordan started running events at the age of 14 in his home county of Dorset. He moved to Bristol to study a BSc in Audio Technology at UWE, and joined SXS as a placement student whilst studying. Since then he has progressed to become one of our experienced project handlers, and now runs everything from awards shows with 1500+ guests, to festivals, to large scale experiential tours.
Skills:Event design, technical production, audio engineering, video production and editing, CAD.
Involvement in your project:It is quite likely that Jordan will be handling the day-to-day running of your project, from pitch and quoting to onsite delivery and post-event. He may also be seen on site as a crew boss or video technician.
Personal Interests:Playing guitar in a pop-punk band with Steve, messing with his car, cooking and eating good food, drinking tea in the daytime and craft beer in the evenings. Jordan also likes to go skiing when he gets the chance!
David started out as a video producer and camera operator. He worked for 5 years specializing in content for events, designing for bespoke and multi-screen sets. He has led events that were broadcast on BBC, ITV, and Sky. He joined SXS as our head of studio and digital content in 2016 in order to build the department from the ground up.
Skills:Show production, set design, digital content creation and 3D modeling, video filming and editing, vision mixing and showcalling.
Involvement in your project:As your project director, Dave will take a wider overview of your project, ensuring everything from the technical production and set design to the branding, entertainment, and theming ties into your vision.
Personal Interests:Good food, wine, spirits, and cocktails, cinema (Dave has seen over 1000 films!), music festivals, and snowboarding.
Since finishing her degree in Drama with Creative Writing, Lucy has gained experience in theatre production, office management, administration and customer services. She joined us this year to assist the project team and has hit the ground running, already taking over her own accounts and running a selection of projects.
Skills:Creative design, administration, script management, showcalling, and autocue operation.
Involvement in your project:Lucy will mostly be on the other end of the phone or an email should you need anything in a pinch. She may be your point of contact for your project, and she specialises in weddings, college balls, and theatre. If she is on site you will see her stage managing, operating the autocue, or occasionally assisting the lighting team.
Personal Interests:Lucy is an avid theatre fan, both watching and performing. She also enjoys going to gigs and eating good food.
Alex joined SXS as a student while studying Audio Music Technology at UWE. 12 years later he has progressed to senior technician and head of our sound department. He is the longest standing staff member at SXS. Alex is one of the most competent, multi-skilled and thorough technicians in the industry.
Skills:Live sound, system tech, lighting, video, rigging, content editing, crew bossing, production management, flightcase design and manufacture.
Involvement in your project:If your job has a large sound aspect, Alex will most likely be designing and setting up the sound on site. When he's not on site, Alex also designs and makes our flightcases so that all our equipment arrives in pristine condition, and is constantly helping to evolve our processes.
Personal Interests:Photography, Power Kiting, Mountain Biking and Climbing.
Dan has been a keen theatre technician since a young age and was recruited into SXS in 2009 from our work experience program. Dan is now one of our most valued multi-skilled technicians, but has a particular flair for all things aesthetic, and is head of our lighting department.
Skills:Lighting design, luminaire maintenance, lighting operation, sound operation, aesthetics.
Involvement in your project:Dan will be in charge of any in-depth lighting design or operation your event might need, as well as preparing and maintaining equipment prior to the event.
Personal Interests:Dan plays guitar and goes climbing in his spare time, as well as playing with toys he’s bought online, editing amusing photos of the other crew members and sticking googly eyes on things.
Tim originally joined SXS on placement as part of his Music Systems Engineering Degree and continued to work part-time through the rest of his degree. After graduation Tim joined the company full-time as a Production Technician. Extensive investment in his training and mentoring has helped Tim become our head video technician, as well as a respected project handler. Tim has worked on a very wide range of projects from awards shows with projection mapped sets, to major comedy tours, to festivals, to exhibition rigging projects, all the way gaining in-depth technical and project knowledge.
Skills:Aside from all things video, Tim has a broad skill set in all areas of technical production including audio, rigging, lighting, power, decor, staging, and carpentry. On his placement he earned the name ‘Tapestry Tim’ for his sewing skills. He is also a skilled crew boss and production manager.
Involvement in your project:Tim could be involved in your event as a production technician, production manager or account handler. If your event has an LED video wall on it, it is likely that Tim will be building it for you.
Personal Interests:Cycling, Caving, Keeping fit, Old cars, Guitars, Playing in bands, anything fast and everything Audio.
Josh spent his childhood fiddling with computers, screens and electrical bits and bobs. He worked for SXS as an ad-hoc technician for a couple of years before we discovered his talents as a video and IT expert, and now he heads up some of our more complicated content management jobs.
Skills:Video, LED walls, IT, data management, drapes, décor, furniture, and being an all-round nice guy.
Involvement in your project:Josh will most likely be involved in your project if there is a large video element to it. He will often also be at the other end of the phone if you need last minute off-site technical support.
Personal Interests:Motorbikes, reading about philosophy, art, and history.
One of our more recent placement students,Max came back to us full-time after proving his skills. Like many, he has a BSc in Audio and Music Technology. He is one of a few very broadly skilled technicians and can competently lend his hand to a wide variety of skillsets.
Skills:Audio, Video, Lighting, Rigging, and flightcase manufacture.
Involvement in your project:Max will quite often be seen on site performing a wide variety of tasks, from driving a scissor lift to operating video switchgear or lighting.
Personal Interests:Moto GP and fast bikes, playing drums, and making the ladies swoon.
