  • LED Technician
LED Technician Job Title:

LED Technician

Description:

SXS are looking for someone who can be part of our event technicians with a strong interest in LED & video structures

It will require a high level of problem solving, self teaching and good time management.
A learning roll for someone bright and enthusiastic to progress in the events industry.

The work you can expect to do includes the following:

  • Inspecting LED stock
  • Keeping a database upto date
  • Ordering spare parts
  • Asset tracking and management
  • On-site LED screen specialist
  • Working with in-house riggers to design LED structures

While we are asking for video related skills we can tailor roles to the unique skills, experience and motivations of candidates.   We have under 30 employees so we have the benefit of taking an individual approach - this means we can get the most from your existing skills, as well as work together to develop the areas where you want to learn more.

We work really hard to make SXS a place that we are all excited to go to each day.  Some of these actions include:

  • Launching the SXS Good Programme - see here
  • Offering breaks to all staff and their families to our private island in the Cotswolds - see here
  • A very active social calendar which recently featured a boat party, warehouse party, pub crawls and meals out (all funded by the company)
  • Onsite secure bike storage at SXS HQ
  • Onsite secure car parking at SXS HQ
  • Private lockers for all staff at SXS HQ
  • Being very proactive in our sustainable activities to ensure we do minimal harm to the planet and use our position to encourage and compel others to do the same.  see here
  • Showers at SXS HQ (we encourage cycling and running to work)
  • Good staff facilities including a relaxed staff area, extensive kitchen, plenty of storage and hot desks
  • Developing a collaborative culture of knowledge sharing

Pre-Requisites:
  • Enthusiasm for technology
  • A love of live events, music or theatre
  • The ability to learn fast
  • A good attitude which is open, transparent, collaborative and honest
  • At least two years experience in some kind of tech-based role (doesnt have to be events)
  • A full UK driver's license and reliable car

We dont neccessarily need people from an event production background.  We find that strong IT skills, systems integration or process control experience transfer to what we do really well - especially with video which is fundamentally signal and control system management.

The Kit:

Candidates do not require any of their own kit.    SXS provides a generous tool allowance.

At SXS you will be working with some of the latest video production gear including high-resolution LED video wall, LASER projectors, large-format DLP projection, HD LCD screens, broadcast cameras, Analogue Way and Black Magic switch and mix gear.

Outside our video department we have some of the finest production gear in Europe in disciplines including audio, rigging, lighting, power and special effects.   Because of this there are limitless opportunities to learn new skills and diversify your work - this is something that our staff are always grateful for.

The Location:

SXS HQ, Bristol and site as required (throughout the UK)

Basis of the Role:

Full time (following trial period).

Where appropriate we take a softer approach to recruitment whereby we encourage suitable candidates to come along to paid trial shifts, join in on our social activities and see the inner workings of the business.

We feel that the recruitment and interview process is very much a two-way process where both employer and employee need to know that there is a good fit.  This approach has helped us have a fantastic and cohesive team, low staff turnover and a great working culture.

Pay:

Based on skill level, ability to work autonomously and past experience

Progression:

Huge.   We are one of the fastest growing production companies in the UK and work at the upper echelons or touring and production work.    So even if you come on board in a relatively junior capacity you can swiftly be part of an elite production team working on international tours, televised awards shows and legendary festivals.

We are particularly keen to develop, at an appropriate pace which is tailored to the individual, our staff to becoming "Project Handlers" and "Project Directors" - these roles have potential for very large salaries and huge work flexibility.
